Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of enterprise server, workstation, and infrastructure systems. This role partners closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure reliable system performance, support business operations, and lead complex technical initiatives from planning through execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain server, workstation, and application infrastructure to meet availability, performance, and security standards.
- Collaborate with department leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure supports business processes and strategic objectives.
- Lead complex technical projects, serving as an escalation point for advanced troubleshooting and incident resolution.
- Perform ongoing system performance tuning, hardware and software upgrades, resource planning, and capacity management.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, operational procedures, and best-practice guidelines.
- Plan and execute changes and deployments with minimal disruption to operations.
- Work closely with internal customers, external vendors, and technical teams to resolve issues and improve service delivery.
- Support policies, standards, and procedures related to systems architecture and infrastructure operations.
- Provide technical guidance to peers and serve as a subject matter expert for enterprise systems and virtualization.

- Works independently with broad guidelines and adapts to changing priorities and requirements.
- Leads and coordinates the work of others without direct supervisory responsibility.
- Works frequently with leadership-level staff and cross-functional teams.
- Regular interaction with internal stakeholders and external partners (phone, remote, and in-person).
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant systems engineering experience, including 3+ years supporting large-scale enterprise server and workstation environments.
- Expert-level knowledge of server and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Experience in Data Center Operations, including server hardware, power, cooling, and physical infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of storage solutions, backup and recovery systems, and cloud-based infrastructure services.
- Strong understanding of systems architecture and ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies.
- Functional understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and integrated system dependencies.
- Experience with Virtual Desktop platforms (Citrix or VMware).
- Advanced proficiency with Windows and Linux systems administration, including tools such as AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, Certificates/PKI, ADFS, and Azure services.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills; able to work effectively under pressure.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; OR 10 years of enterprise-level experience in lieu of a degree.
