About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced IT Strategic Sourcing Manager to join a well-established organization and lead strategic sourcing, technology procurement, and supplier contract negotiations.
This role is ideal for a procurement professional with extensive experience negotiating enterprise software licensing, SaaS agreements, cloud services, IT hardware, telecommunications, and technology services contracts.
The successful candidate will work closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies, negotiate high-value agreements, optimize technology spending, and build strong supplier relationships.
This is a highly visible opportunity for someone who combines strong negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and commercial expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies across enterprise software, IT hardware, cloud services, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and professional services.
- Lead complex sourcing initiatives, including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, supplier evaluations, and competitive bidding processes.
- Develop multi-year category strategies aligned with business objectives and technology investments.
- Conduct market research, supplier benchmarking, and spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO), pricing models, and supplier proposals to support sourcing decisions.
Contract Negotiation & Management
- Lead negotiations for high-value enterprise technology contracts, including software licensing, SaaS subscriptions, cloud solutions, and hardware agreements.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, service-level agreements, licensing structures, and contract renewals.
- Manage the complete contract lifecycle, from sourcing and negotiations through execution, renewals, and supplier performance.
- Proactively identify upcoming renewals and develop negotiation strategies to maximize cost savings and contract value.
- Partner with legal, finance, IT, and risk management teams to ensure favorable terms and minimize contractual risks.
- Support the development and negotiation of statements of work (SOWs) for technology products and services.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with major enterprise technology vendors and service providers.
- Lead supplier performance reviews, business reviews, and contract compliance assessments.
- Monitor vendor performance against contractual commitments and service-level agreements.
- Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, license optimization, and improved commercial terms.
Financial & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with IT and business leadership to understand technology requirements, spending priorities, and sourcing opportunities.
- Develop category budgets, savings targets, and sourcing roadmaps.
- Track cost savings, cost avoidance, and overall value delivered through sourcing initiatives.
- Present sourcing strategies, financial analyses, and negotiation outcomes to senior leadership.
- Support technology investment planning, forecasting, and continuous process improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or contract negotiations.
- Significant experience negotiating enterprise-level IT contracts, including software licensing, SaaS, hardware, cloud services, or technology solutions.
- Proven ability to lead complex, high-value contract negotiations and deliver measurable cost savings.
- Strong understanding of IT procurement, software licensing models, commercial agreements, and contract lifecycle management.
- Experience managing RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, supplier evaluations, and competitive sourcing initiatives.
- Experience developing strategic sourcing plans and managing technology spend within large organizations.
- Knowledge of contract law, supplier risk management, and commercial contract terms.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including total cost of ownership, cost-benefit analysis, and spend optimization.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence senior leadership and collaborate across multiple business functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience negotiating agreements with major enterprise technology providers such as Microsoft, SAP, or similar vendors.
- Experience with global sourcing strategies and multinational supplier relationships.
- Knowledge of software license optimization, cloud consumption models, and enterprise SaaS agreements.
- Experience managing substantial IT procurement budgets and complex supplier portfolios.
- Familiarity with low-cost-country sourcing and supplier qualification processes.
- Experience developing long-term sourcing strategies and driving organizational change.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a strategic negotiator, not simply a contract administrator.
We're looking for someone who has personally led major IT sourcing initiatives, negotiated complex enterprise technology agreements, and delivered significant cost savings.
You should be comfortable working directly with technology vendors, challenging pricing structures, identifying negotiation opportunities, and influencing senior stakeholders.
Success in this position requires strong commercial judgment, proactive planning, excellent relationship management, and the ability to balance business needs with financial objectives.
