Employment Type: Direct Hire - Full-Time
Compensation: $170K-$220K

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build and own production backend systems supporting core payments and data infrastructure. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-moving, high-growth environment and is comfortable taking ownership of ambiguous projects from concept through production.
You’ll work primarily with TypeScript/Node.js, building APIs, services, data models, and internal tools where reliability, correctness, and performance are critical.
Experience
- 5–12 years of backend engineering experience
- Experience independently owning a project or product area end-to-end
- Payments experience required
- Experience working at a high-growth technology company
- VC-backed startup experience is a strong plus
- Experience collaborating across teams such as engineering, risk, and data science is a plus
Technical Skills
- Strong production experience with TypeScript/Node.js - MUST HAVE on resume
- Strong SQL and relational database experience
- Experience with AWS, Lambda, and serverless architectures
- Python proficiency is a plus
- Experience with data pipelines, ETL, or Snowflake is a plus
- Strong API, service, and data-model design skills
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and own production backend systems supporting core payments and data infrastructure
- Design APIs, services, data models, and contracts used by multiple teams
- Build highly reliable systems with an emphasis on correctness, performance, and scalability
- Create internal tools that help teams review data, understand decisions, and operate more efficiently
- Take ownership of ambiguous projects end-to-end, including defining the problem, proposing solutions, shipping production releases, and iterating
- Improve the reliability, latency, and correctness of systems that directly impact payment decisions and the customer experience
- Collaborate across engineering, risk, data science, and other teams to solve complex technical problems
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
